Important Income Tax Information – HB5 changes
INCOME:
All gambling income is now taxable. This includes income from Lotteries, Sweepstakes, Casinos etc.
Military pay is not taxable. This includes both Active Duty and Reserve Duty.
DEDUCTIONS:
2106 expenses which were deducted for federal income tax purposes may be deducted subject to the limitation imposed by section 67 of the Internal Revenue Code. The deductible amount is the portion which exceeds 2% of the Adjusted Gross Income.
ESTIMATES:
The State of Ohio now requires quarterly estimate payments be made if the tax amount due is estimated to be at least $200. (This is the amount due after credits for any local tax withheld.)
FILING (SUBMITTING) THE RETURN:
The tax return must be signed and dated. In the case of a joint return, both parties must sign and date the return.
All W-2 forms, including information reported on the federal W-2, as well as taxable wages reported and tax withheld for all cities must be attached.
Any applicable schedules, such as Schedule C (self employment income), Schedule E (rental income) must be attached.
