Park & Recreation Board Opening

The City of Hubbard has an opening on on the Park & Recreation Board.  Volunteering provides an opportunity for citizen participation in the process of government and increase their knowledge and skills by working with a variety of people on issues that might not otherwise be a part of their private lives.  Serving on a board or committee is one of the most effective ways for citizens to give back to the community and influence city policies and activities.

To be eligible for an appointment, volunteers should have interest or knowledge in the subject matter.  Volunteers should also be available to meet at the committee’s regular meeting time (Every Second Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers) .  Residency in the City of Hubbard is also required.

Please submit your letter of interest in person to the Mayor’s Office or via email to d.madeline@cityofhubbard-oh.gov. The Mayor will review the applications and make his recommendation to the Council President. The appointments will then go before the City Council for confirmation.

Contact the Mayor’s Office with any questions at (330) 534-3090.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT – SCOPE’s newest center will be located here in Hubbard at the Senior Center.  SCOPE is in the process of hiring a part-time center manager.  Anyone interested in the position may call 330-399-8846 or visit fcsserves.org to submit an online application.  The hiring process is being handled through SCOPE and their parent company – NOT the City of Hubbard.

Exact opening date is to be determined.

CHRISTMAS PARADE

SANTA & MRS. CLAUS ARE COMING TO TOWN CHRISTMAS PARADE – SATURDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2023

The parade committee is inviting any business, church, school, organization, or political affiliation who would like to participate in the “Santa & Mrs. Claus are Coming to Town” Christmas parade to stop by the Hubbard City Mayor’s Office for an application. The parade is set for Saturday, December 2, 2023.  The parade will begin at 5:00 PM, with line up beginning at 4:00 PM at the Hubbard Schools campus.  The parade route will travel down Hall Avenue, turn east onto West Liberty Street, and then end by turning north on Stewart Avenue.  Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive at Tylee Park (next to the fire station) to visit with children in Santa’s cottage.  This great event allows Hubbard to come together as a community and kick off the holiday season!  Use your holiday spirit to decorate a car, truck, trailer, or semi-truck with lights, signs, balloons, and music!  You can walk or ride and toss candy or hand out discount coupons!  Click the link to sign up –  Parade Form.

  • Please be aware of parking restrictions at the fire station for the safety of children and to avoid blocking the fire station doors!
  • Make it a family event and afterwards “Dine Local”, “Shop Local”!
  • We look forward to seeing our community come together to kick off the holiday season, while spreading lots of Christmas cheer!

Questions can be directed to the Mayor’s Office at 330-534-3090 or Councilman Mike Mogg at 330-550-7396.

CARE Support Group – Town Hall Meeting

Join the City Transformation Team for a Town Hall Meeting at The Hubbard Public Library with speakers from the Mahoning County Law Enforcement Task Force Drug Unit.

Let’s expose this epidemic and encourage those that they are not alone in the struggle. The pain, fear, anger, and frustration are crippling if carried alone.

Invite and share with friends.

Annual Leaf Pick-Up

Leaf pick-up season is upon us! The City of Hubbard Street Department crews will begin their annual leaf pick up program on Monday, October 30th.  We will strive to post a schedule of where the trucks will be working ahead of time so that residents can plan accordingly. Please be patient as crews will get to each area as quickly as possible. As a reminder, LEAVES MAY BE BAGGED FOR PICKUP AND DISPOSAL BY REPUBLIC SERVICES. Republic Services will pick up to 10 bags of leaves per week at curb. This service is included in the negotiated contract with The City of Hubbard. Choosing this option will speed up the removal process considerably and will help combat issues from leaves sitting waiting for pick-up.

Residents choosing to have the street department crews pick up their leaves are reminded of the following items:

  • Leaves are to be piled at curb, but not to be placed in street;
  • Please do not mix branches and other debris in the piles as this causes an issue with leaf vacuum.

Crews will be working as quickly as possible, however, leaves sitting at curb line can cause some discoloration of grass. Grass will return in color after the leaves have been removed. If this is a concern, please consider your bagging option.

The Street Department will have one crew starting in the Meadowlands area. They will begin at the intersection of Helen and Tulip and head south to the city limits. Once the Meadowlands are completed that crew will work from Jacobs Rd. and work toward S. Main St. in the area south of W. Liberty St. The second collection crew will begin east of S. Main St. and south of E. Liberty St. at Oak Knoll and head south and then east.  Thank you for your patience.

Street Resurfacing to Begin

2023 City of Hubbard Street Resurfacing is scheduled to begin today, Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023. During this project, please avoid parking on the streets of the following areas: Scott St. (Grandview Ave. to Christian Ave.) Parkview Dr. (Tulip Dr. to Melody Ln.) Moore St. (Elmwood Dr. to Gary Dr.) W. Water St. (Stewart Ave. to N. Main St.) Fifth Ave. (Church St. to Prescott Ave.) Parkview Dr. (Hager St. to Dead-End) Hall Ave. (Scott St. to Bus Garage).
