Message from the Safety Director

With the recent time change, it has become dark earlier in the evening and this brings to mind a couple issues for Hubbard residents, which is the topic of visibility.  Please check the area of your front door from the street to verify that you can plainly see your house number.  For safety purposes, the Police and Fire Departments need to read your house number quickly if you need assistance.  If the house number is not easily visible from the street, this will delay the response time, which could be crucial in an emergency.  Again, your house number should be easily visible from the street and generally in the area of the front door.  Large numbers are easy to read and would benefit everyone when an emergency situation occurs.

Also, if you live in a neighborhood without sidewalks and walk your pets in the early morning or evenings, please wear high-visibility or reflective clothing.  Too often I hear stories of residents walking their pets wearing dark clothing and almost being struck by a passing motorist on their way to/from work.  Please walk against traffic so motorists can see you and you can see them approaching as well.

Thanks for your attention to these matters and stay safe!
