Annual Leaf Pick-Up
Leaf pick-up season is upon us! The City of Hubbard Street Department crews will begin their annual leaf pick up program on Monday, October 30th. We will strive to post a schedule of where the trucks will be working ahead of time so that residents can plan accordingly. Please be patient as crews will get to each area as quickly as possible. As a reminder, LEAVES MAY BE BAGGED FOR PICKUP AND DISPOSAL BY REPUBLIC SERVICES. Republic Services will pick up to 10 bags of leaves per week at curb. This service is included in the negotiated contract with The City of Hubbard. Choosing this option will speed up the removal process considerably and will help combat issues from leaves sitting waiting for pick-up.
Residents choosing to have the street department crews pick up their leaves are reminded of the following items:
- Leaves are to be piled at curb, but not to be placed in street;
- Please do not mix branches and other debris in the piles as this causes an issue with leaf vacuum.
Crews will be working as quickly as possible, however, leaves sitting at curb line can cause some discoloration of grass. Grass will return in color after the leaves have been removed. If this is a concern, please consider your bagging option.
The Street Department will have one crew starting in the Meadowlands area. They will begin at the intersection of Helen and Tulip and head south to the city limits. Once the Meadowlands are completed that crew will work from Jacobs Rd. and work toward S. Main St. in the area south of W. Liberty St. The second collection crew will begin east of S. Main St. and south of E. Liberty St. at Oak Knoll and head south and then east. Thank you for your patience.
